RULES AND TERMS

About:

DIGO – I International Film Festival on Gender and Sexual Diversity of Goiás, is the first film festival in the heart of Brazil to address issues such as Diversity, Gender and Sexuality, by showcasing contemporary audiovisual work and urging historical reviews. Our main goal is to raise awareness on this topic, in order to promote inclusion, social change and respect for others. As an international event, the DIGO team also believes in the importance of cross cultural communication.

When?

May 18th to May 20th, 2016.

Where?

City of Goiânia – Goiás, Brasil.
Debates, parallel film showcases, artistic events and competitive film screenings will be hosted in 3 distinct places: Banana Shopping (Mall), CREI – Centro de Referência Estadual da Igualdade (State’s Equality Center of Reference) and Centro Cultural da UFG (UFG’s Cultural Center).

Categories:

International Short Film Competition (fiction films, documentary or experimental up to 20 minutes in length, produced and completed outside Brazil). All films in foreign language must have Portuguese subtitles provided;
National Short Film Competition fiction films, documentary or experimental up to 20 minutes in length, produced and completed in Brazil) All films in foreign language must have Portuguese subtitles provided;
Non Competitive Showcase – DIGO: A NEW LOOK (fiction films, documentary or experimental up to 20 minutes in length, produced and completed in Brazil) – Selected by the DIGO Festival team;

The Festival could create new categories or make adjustments according to the profile of entries and/or themes.

Submissions:

Entries start on March 1st, 2016 and the deadline for entering films is May 1st, 2016. Filmmakers must submit their films HERE or FESTHOME

Requirements:

– One (1) still of the film in JPG 300 DPI, RGB (approximate dimensions: 1800×1200 pixels);

– Short film, fiction, documentary or experimental. – LGBT themed

– Films must be uploaded in digital format, FULL HD – 1920×1080 or 1280×720 (AVI, MOV, MP4, VOB or DCP);

– Films should have been completed AFTER January 1st, 2014.

– To be accepted for selection, your film must be loaded to VIMEO, Dropbox or similar, the link must be private and you must provide the password;

– Filmmakers may submit as many entries as they want;

– To be accepted for selection, short films must be unpublished, otherwise they will be disqualified.

Selection:

The list of selected films will be published on DIGO’s official website and all subscribers will be notified via email until May 10th, 2016. The jury of the competitive categories will be composed of filmmakers and professionals of related areas, nominated by the Festival Director.

Filmmakers who subscribe their films/videos to DIGO will automatically authorize and give way rights to its incorporation to the Festival’s collection, authorize its exhibition and placement with no commercial purposes in outreach events – except TV stations – full or parcially, as well as its promotional material, without charging the Festival, including copyrights. Submissions will not be returned. Unanticipated cases will be analyzed by DIGO.

The submission of soundtrack authorization or comprobation of public domain may be requested to selected films in all categories.

In case of selected film, the legal representative of the film, authorizes its exhibition at the I DIGO – International Film Festival on Gender and Sexual Diversity of Goiás, as well as the use of images for journalistic purposes and promotion of the event.

Important Details:

DIGO has partnered with Asolo Art Film Festival and OutFestPeru for our international parallel short film showcases both in Asolo, Italy and in Lima, Peru, respectively. The Best National Short film will be screened in Anicuns, Goiás.

Prizes will not be sent to winners who cannot attend the DIGO Festival. There is the possibility of delivery to representatives but, in order for this to occur, the director and/or producer must, previously, send an email to the festival production team: (contato@digo.com.br) making this request.

DIGO may include new award categories, including honorary trophies. There are no cash prizes.

All information filled in the submission forms, and clips of the submited films (up to 30 seconds) may be utilized for promotion on DIGO’s official website and other media.

The submited material will become part of the DIGO Festival collection and may be utilized in non-profit cultural activities, and in projects of popular screenings, in order to collaborate with the democratization of national cinema.

Programming Schedule

The programming schedule will be determined by DIGO’s Directors, and may be extended to itinerant showcases. Check the full schedule!

How does promotional use works?

Stills from selected films will be available to newspapers, magazines and websites to promote DIGO. The selected filmmakers subscribed to DIGO 2016, authorize the exhibition of their film(s) in the official programming of the DIGO festival and, also, the exhibition of a clip (up to 10% of the film lenght) or trailer, on TV stations, websites and other media to promote the festival.

Acceptance of Rules and Terms:

To subscribe to DIGO Festival and submit film(s), indicated the acceptance of these rules and terms. The director and/or producer of the submited film, is responsible for this acceptance. By the time they submit any materials, directors and/or producers authorize DIGO to exhibit their films. The DIGO Festival has the right to exhibit selected films by curators/programmers in its official programming schedule.

Subscribing and submitting films is FREE. There will be no charge for film exhibitions.

Other matters:

The directors of DIGO – I International Film Festival on Gender and Sexual Diversity of Goiás – have the power to resolve issues and other matters not included in these rules and terms, in accordance to International Film Festivals Rules.

The DIGO Festival does not take responsability for canceled events or alterations in the programming schedule for thecnical reasons in the 3 participating locations.

All films submitted to DIGO are subject to the conditions laid down in this regulation.

Final Considerations

The DIGO Festival seeks to offer society a quality space to reflect and act socially. This way, we stand together for the production of meaning and diffusion of films in the fields of gender and sexuatily among activists, academics and society in general. See ya!
